Recently, former educators from Atlanta public school system have
been indicted in a cheating scandal related to fixing students' test scores. Although 35 have been indicted, thus far only 3 have reported to Fulton County Jail ahead of the Tuesday deadline. All of the teachers face charges related to conspiring to alter and improve standardized tests.
Superintendent Beverly Hall was also named in the 65-count indictment returned, according to Prosecutors. In 2009, Hall had received a $78,000 bonus from the school system for improving its test scores.
Matthew Steffen of Imprinsic Marketing Group and founder of Fun for Fosters believes strongly in the reporting process the public school system has set forth for all Public Schools in New Jersey, including Charter Schools.
"Knowing where children are at academically is important in the interest of improving where they are going intellectually," said Matthew Steffen. "When you falsify documents regarding the test scores of children, you are not only robbing the state (in relation to the bonuses fraudulently taken), you are also robbing the child."
"Any scandal that jeopardizes a child's future for the greedy benefit of another is despicable," said Matthew Steffen. "If these allegations are true," continued Matthew Steffen, "I hope justice is swift and consistent with the nature of the crime."
